A VENUE ON THE SQUARE
The city of Independence is dear to our hearts. In a community full of rich history and new life, we wanted to create a welcoming space guests can utilize for any type of creative event. When it came time for naming the venue, we knew we wanted a name that would tell our story. Independence, being founded on history and tradition, is full of rich stories.
Delaware is a street name to the north of the Square, which just so happens to be where President Harry S. Truman lived for over fifty years. But, there's a little more to the story. One of our proprietors grew up in Independence, her family living off Delaware Street.
Playing a part of the rich history, her family established the original Polly's Soda Pop, a local soda company, in addition to other businesses and storefronts off the Square. We wanted to honor their legacy through re-establishing purpose for our building, staying true to its' industrial, historic bones. From vintage auto shop to modern event space, this is The Delaware.
